ROUTINE PROCEDURES

Routine procedures include:

  • Sterilisations

  • X-Rays

  • Ultrasounds

  • Mass removals

  • Stitch ups

  • Soft tissue operations

  • Non-complicated bone fractures

It is necessary to pre-book your animal’s operation. Routine operations are scheduled only for weekdays from Monday to Friday.
Please arrive between 7:45 and 8:30 and your pet will be admitted to the hospital. Generally your pet will be able to go home on the same day, depending on the procedure.

We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

If there is anything else that you would like us to do, please make sure you notify our staff.

You will be asked to sign a form, being made aware of the slight anaesthetic risks and consenting to the procedure. Please ensure that you leave a contact number where you can be contacted throughout the day.
A general health assessment is carried out pre-operative.

For routine procedures, we request that dogs and cats do not eat from about 10 pm the night prior to the planned procedure. This is to prevent vomiting while under anaesthetics during the procedure or during recovery, which could lead to suffocation or aspiration pneumonia. Many procedures, especially abdominal operations, can be complicated if the stomach is full of food.

It is recommended to have a pre-anaesthetic profile done for all pets to assess underlining risks.
